About Blue Velvet

50% sativa | 50% indica

A wise man once said: "Trust the person who's been in the game for over 40 years, but never stops trying to outdo themselves." That's quite a statement and couldn't be truer for this long-time breeder DJ Short and the excellent example of work with this strain. Known commonly as Blueberry Thai, but recently given the moniker "Blue Velvet," it is an evenly balanced, smooth cross between Purple Thai and Afghani that delivers a velvety high worthy of its new name.

With a relatively high THC range that averages from 18% to 20%, this child of two favorites has a lot to bring to the table. Between the delicious flavors of blueberry and chai and the tantalizing aromas of berries, tree fruit, and spice, there's not a lot left to be desired when packing this bowl. The nugs are long and bushy, with deep red hairs and an abundance of milky white trichomes.

The Blue Velvet high is all the best parts of its parentage wrapped neatly into a flavor-packed, perfectly balanced package. It begins with a punch straight to the head, bringing with it fast-paced energy and heightened focus, so enjoy this while you zip through any jam-packed schedule. As the high builds you fall into an ultra-relaxed state, leaving you feeling lazy and somewhat unmotivated, the polar opposite of the high's beginning. This phase lasts for hours and due to its potency may agitate users with anxiety or PTSD. Novice users are cautioned when using this strain.

Building on what was mentioned above, users who suffer from anxiety disorders are not recommended this strain as it has a tendency to get ahead of you quickly, thus agitating pre-existing conditions. With that said, however, it is highly beneficial for patients who suffer from chronic fatigue, depression, and lack of appetite as it is a stimulant at its core, lifting the mood and getting the body moving. It is also recommended for mild cases of muscle spasms and mild pains.

As if there wasn't already tons to love about this plant you'll be delighted to hear that Blue Velvet is an easy to grow strain. Actually, that's a bit of an understatement - this is a breeze of a plant, a gift from the heavens here to help your thumb grow greener. The flowering time on this gem is around 8 weeks for indoor systems or late September to early October for outdoor growth. The yield is high and in order to keep this gal happy indoors, you'll want to top early as these beauties can grow upwards of four feet. Outdoor heights have been known to reach nine feet if left unattended.

If you are a fan of Purple Thai or Afghani strains, you'll love this hybrid. It is the perfect blend of the two, taking all of their best attributes and compounding them into something really special. Take this one to task and get through all of your paused projects, then relax with a good movie and a snack. To add to the already stellar flavor, try a spiced blunt wrap.
